Presenting Vocabulary Effectively  Presenting vocabulary effectivelyis a crucial aspect of English language teaching (ELT).  Here are some common techniques and strategies for presenting new vocabulary to learners: 1. Context-rich introduction:    - Introduce new words in meaningful contexts, such as short texts, dialogues, or real-life situations.    - Providing context helps learners understand the meaning and usage of the words more effectively. 2. Visual aids:    - Use pictures, flashcards, realia (real objects), or multimedia to illustrate the meaning of new words.    - Visual aids can help create associations and make the words more memorable. 3. Classroom Management/ TTT( Teacher Talking Time/ Giving Clear Instructions

Classroom Management/ TTT( Teacher Talking Time/ Giving Clear Instructions   Make your instructions clear and concise. When giving instructions, make sure the language you use is appropriate to students’ level so that they can understand, otherwise, you will end up spending extra time explaining it again. Make it straightforward and cut the unnecessary so that it will be clearer.   Use elicitation rather than explanation. When presenting new language, we can show examples and ask questions to elicit answers from students rather than tell them directly. By doing this, we don’t need to spend a lot of time explaining, and in the meantime, we can check their understanding. Students will be more engaged, too – because they are not just ‘accepting’ the knowledge. Replace TTT with non-verbal cues   Use body language, gestures, facial expressions, and mime rather than words. Non-verbal language conveys as much information as words do. In the class, we can use some non-v...

Image
How do you become a more confident English speaker? Don't be afraid of making mistakes.  1. Practise where you can, when you can. Any practice is good – whether you speak to someone who is a native English speaker or not. 2. It's important to build your confidence. If possible, use simple English sentence structure that you know is correct, so that you can concentrate on getting your message across. 3. Try to experiment with the English you know. Use words and phrases you know in new situations. Native English speakers are more likely to correct you if you use the wrong word than if you use the wrong grammar. Experimenting with vocabulary is a really good way of getting feedback. English With Nahla 4. Try to respond to what people say to you. You can often get clues to what people think by looking at their body language. Respond to them in a natural way. 5. Try NOT to translate into and from your own language. This takes too much time and will make you more hesitant...
